the 3.55's will feel like they have a little more power if you lift it. I'm swapping my 3.07's for axles with 3.55's until I can get money to do a real gear job. Then I will either do 3.77's(i think stock zj) or 4.13's. I don't need anything overkill, so heck maybe i'll be happy with the 3.55's.

i think you'll be happy with the 3.55 gears with a stick as long as your tires arent over 33"

Does the speedo still work properly after a gear change? If not what is the procedure?

not sure about the 5spd 'kees, but my tj has 3.73 as a factory option. it's on 33's and drives fine.
most zj's are also 3.55 in an auto.

as for the speedo, you just replace the speedo gear with one for your tire size. i believe for an auto with 33's you want a 34 tooth. they're easy to change. it's located in the t-case on the tail stock. they are available from the dealer.

Most of the speedo gears are discontinued. I checked with my uncle at the dealership and I believe he said the only available one is like a 28 or 26? But he could only get one when he looked for me.

i got the speedo gear with the sye kit im not sure how many teeth but im puttin that transfer case in the standard. when it was in my automatic on 35" it was still out like 15 km/h under. those axles and transfer case are both going into the standard.

you shouldn't have gotten a speedo gear with your sye. they do however come with a speedo ring gear, but it's not the speedo gear needed to calibrate your speedometer. it's only a ring gear that contacts the speedo gear to give you a reading.

unless i'm wrong and they did however include one in the kit. but i've never seen a kit come with one.
