squeely belt

I have gotten 3 belts this month because my old one was worn, now all the new gates ones I've put in squeel! The factory ones never did. Help please :/

mossyoak20 12-10-2011 11:39 AM

factory is always better.... make sure they are tight! how do your pulleys look?

auburn_XJ 12-10-2011 11:42 AM

Everything looked fine, I just replaced the most recent one 30 minutes ago, Napa takes em back cuz they r defective so it's no cost to me, but its f***in annoying! I don't know what it is! Only happens when the a/c is running

Maybe your A/C compressor is partially locked down

Do people still use belt dressing? Would it help? My belt squeals too and it is very annoying especially since I took the radio out.

auburn_XJ 12-10-2011 02:49 PM

Did that, worked for a half hour, then it started again >:(

Tighten the belt tensioner a fraction 'til it quits sqeeling when compressor engages.
