Default banshee? or serpentine belt? lol

Ok here goes...i have a 95 jeep cherokee straight 6 4WD...the power steering pump went out. i replaced it and the pulley since the fluid was spraying from that general area when it turned i didnt want to take any chances plus it was pretty beat up. the guy at auto zone put the new pulley on the pump and said he had not done it often and couldnt get it to go in any further. i didnt think much of it until i put the pump on and my belt is screaming like a banshee so i figured it had too much fluid on it. i replaced the belt and it still was screeching but not as bad...here we r a month later and its a screaming banshee again. Im stumped...the tension seems good, the pulleys seem good. i noticed the ps pump pulley doesnt seem to be lined up with the pulley next to it...the belt looks like its riding the edge of the small pulley but my dad said that wouldnt cause it to squeal like that(but ive heard they can be touchy though?). ive tried everything i can think of...im stumped.

HELP HELP HELP! lol!

thank you in advance! =)

I have also had the squeeling from hell every time I turned on the AC, but not using the vent or defroster. A few helpful hints that have worked most of the time on my 96 Cherokee Country: check to see if the AC is fully charged , low charge will idle the pump and make the belt squeel. A mechanic friend at the jeep dealership also told me to replace the serpentine belt with an AC Delco type with straight ribs and do not to use the newer cross cut style belt also to tighten up the belt some more than I had it set to. I thought it was tight enough. It seams you really have to tighten the belt on a Jeep. Give these idea a try .

somebody else had a thread about this and i think a bunch of guys were saying it was either the belt/ pulleys or it also could have had something to do with a vacuum. idk if yours is a standard but if it is check the vaccum hose next to your clutch fluid fill and then check your clutch fluid. ive heard of this before as being something as simple as a combination of the two... just thought you might wanna give it a try if it is a 5 speed. if not sorry bud. good luck

I've got the same problem. I've replaced the idler pulley, the serp belt and the alternator. Its tight enough. I can't figure it out and I'm giving up. Time to take it to the shop.

power steering pump
I'm not sure its any of the components (w/p, p/s etc) because if I spray water on the belt, the squeal goes away and once the water dries the squeal comes back with a vengeance.
