Squealing belts. Check Gauges. Battery gauge at 9v
Just wondering if this is the start of something that should not be ignored.
anyone ever get this?
Last few weeks, belt has been squealing for the first minute of driving.
Tonight, Squealing belts. Check Gauges. Battery gauge at 9v. But, car drove fine, so I drove home. I put a multimeter on it when i got home and read 14V. I turned the XJ off then back on and the gauge was now back at 14V. Bad gauge?
I am also having very loud squealing belts. I thought it was the belts and have procrastinated tightening the belt but do you think it can be a dying alternator?
Also, when I looked at the alternator with the engine running, it seems to have a wire that was glowing red like a cigarette. Were my eyes playing tricks on me?
