Speedo change
I know its not legal to do on your own and that a certified shop needs to do it, they also provide legal papers with it....
But my question is, how can the miles on a speedometer be changed on a instrument cluster. Im asking because I will be swapping my instrument cluster and want the new one to have my current miles. I would take it to a shop but I cant find any around me. At my job we don't do that kind of work so Im thinking either I'm going to have to ship it out somewhere but id rather see if I'm able to do it myself. Thanks for any info |
not really a job for your self unfortinatly, you cant back them up and if its digital you will need to have it programed, if its the roll kind just stick it in and make sure you have papers, so if somone wants to say you screwed them you can prove it was due to a cluster issue.

yeah I have the roll over one. Im a mechanic but i have no idea where to even begin with doing it myself. Im sure I could take it apart and see if i can figure it out, but im not about to mess it up. Im going to ask my boss if he knows of a place that can do it...
This is what sucks about moving to a new state. I know nothing thats around |
if it runs by cable why not jus hook a drill to the speedo cable and run the up ?

From what Ive read, the instrument cluster, although a roll type, isnt cable driven. Im doing a cluster swap from a 91-96

im about 90 percent sure my 04 had a cable i now my 89 does see if theres a nut on tc housing or a elec plug
