Spacer plate question

So I just finished my clutch job (details on which can be found in threads I started) and as part of it I replaced the spacer plate the P.O. used with the correct spacer plate for an AX15/NV3550 bellhousing.
My question is - Is the old plate from an automatic (AW4) or something else?

New (correct) plate:

Old plate is from an auto. They are a 2 piece design and if thats all you have, you are missing the smaller filler piece that gets removed to get to the torque converter bolts.

Aha, that's what I thought.

I have the correct plate installed now, but since the old one was obviously a proper part (just not proper for my XJ), I wanted to be sure.

I'm guessing the P.O. used an engine out of an automatic when it was replaced and for whatever reason put it back together with the auto plate.
Interestingly, a buddy wants to buy my old TJ to turn it into a mud truck and mentioned he might replace the blown NV3550 with an AW4, so maybe he'll want the old plate.
