Default soup can exhaust fix

So..my exhaust snapped today, between the cat and the muffler. My cherokee is just my winter runner, and i use it for camping or moving stuff in the summer. Anywho, im gonna throw a soup can and some clamps on there for the time being. You think i can last the rest of the winter like that? I'm thinking like 2 more months maybe. I am aware that it "needs" an entire new exhaust, but i'm not ready to dump the cash at the moment. Any other easy fix ideas i could try out?

Why not go to a auto parts store and get one those short pieces of real exhaust patch pipe ($2-$3).

X2. And a soup can will not hold it 2gether. Just good for patching holes.

I did this today.... *I got a 3 1/2" long piece of 2 1/2" inside diameter patch pipe for the '88 Cherokee Pioneer exhaust for $2.69 and two clamps at $2.69 each. *Then I took my $9.99 Harbor Freight angle grinder to the catalytic converter and ground down the edges to 2 1/2" outside diameter and cut two slots in the patch pipe for expansion. *Bashed the patch pipe Into place with my $3.99 Harbor Freight tie rod splitter and $5 hammer and tightened the bolts up on the clamps with....my Craftsman socket set that I found on the floor of the black Cherokee from when I put the lights on the roof. 😜
Then I took it four wheeling in the mud pits and gravel pit to test it out. Nice and quiet and fixed solidly. *🚙💨💦💩
