Sounds like a monster under my jeep
So I swapped in an 8.25 last week and everything checks out except 2 things...
1. If I'm above 40 MPH, and I let of the gas, I will hear a low "growl" from the rear end for no longer then a second. Note: This is not all the time, most of the time it doesn't happen.
2. I installed a u joint at the axle end of the drive shaft, not at the tcase end though. And when I'm slowing down, like under 15 MPH, I can hear a clicking coming from underneath me. I believe it's the other u joint that I had not yet replaced. What do y'all think? Again, I only notice this at deceleration.
Any help is appreciated.

4.5 with 31's
And idk if it has to be longer, but I know the longer shaft from the D35 would not fit with the 8.25, so I put the shaft made for the 8.25 on.

With only a 4.5 lift, I don't think there is enough of an angle change to be a problem. Have you considered having the drive shaft re-balanced? The only thing with that is that after they are originally balanced, as long as there's no damage (bent, etc.) or changes to lengths, etc. they don't usually get unbalanced. Are you sure the 8.25 is a sound axle? No gear tooth damage, no metal filings in the oil, etc?
