Soundbar Removal?
Hey everybody!
I'm re-doing my headliner, and I just need to know how to remove the soundbar in the trunk of an XJ. I'm using the steps here: http://www.4x4xplor.com/headliner.html but there was no mention of a headliner! Thanks!:head: |
That all depends on how the sound bar is mounted..Some are apart of the headliner and some are attached via screws or something like that. So it depends..

I have no pics...Basically it is a bar that runs left to right in the back where you rear dome light is and has a speaker at each corner..

Good you asked:p I never seen one before, is this an aftermarket item or was it an option on the XJ's?:dunno: Something else to look for at the strip yard.;) |
They are standard in the later higher end models of Cherokees.

If its the kind NOT integrated into the headliner then you need to remove the upper, side trim and the retainer clip(s) on the rear dome light mounting studs. The clips look like small washers that slide over the studs. Be very careful not to damage the clips when removing and be careful not to break the mounting studs. The sides of the soundbar tuck in behind the upper side trim.Be careful of the domelight and speaker wires- they're usually taped to the inside of the soundbar.
