Some Renix Questions (pics)
Going to be tested for my license on saturday, trying to get the jeep ready. Hopefully it will be legal by christmas!
Just wondering what some of this stuff was.
I noticed on the "AMC" labeled Yellow computer there are some adjustments.
Things like "Centering ADJ", "Sensitivity ADJ" and "Low Speed Sw ADJ" What are these?
Also, I found this (looks to be) ground wire disconnected. From some kind of module. Is this supposed to be connected to something?
And what is this Bendix module, Is that the ecu? I thought the amc one was the ecu...
Also, what is this velcroed to my dash?
89 cherokee, 4.0, Aw4

Do you have an "Intermittent" setting on your windscreen wipers? If so, that Velcroed box is the control unit for that.
The ECU was built by Bendix, thus they get to put their tag on the thing.
The yellow AMC box is, as noted, the control unit for cruise.
That wire could be for anything - since you've mentioned the Bendix ECU, your rig is 1990 or older - that means it's 19 years old or more, and I'm sure you're not the first owner. Could be a mod that was removed later - leave it be, or remove it if you prefer.

Im pretty sure I have the intermittent wipers..
I know all about the Renault/Bendix (renix) stuff, but for some reason It didnt click (durr... Bendix made the fcking thing! I just wasnt thinking) lol...
Its a 89, Im definately not the first owner. The guy we bought it from said its been passed around a few times between a group of friends. Pry why it knocks too..
I used that ground wire for the ground on one of my lighted switches.. works pretty good, its just grounded to the body anyway..

All above answers are correct to the best of my knowledge. While you are under there find the timer module for the emmisions and pull it. It lights a light on the dash when you are supposed to check all your emissions stuff but it can't be reset just replaced. So unplugging it will eliminate that darned light. Then put those checks on your scheduled yearly check list. Mine is in the spring when we change the clocks forward but that is just me.

No one knows wht the emissions timer looks like?
Also, Do an of you think its worth it to put a TC lock switch in? The speedlimit in town is 35 and I would like to be able to lock the tc at that speed, but is it worth it? What do you guys think about a 1st or 2nd gear switch, I think it would be good for winter if you need REALLY low gearing (4lo and 1st)...
Thanks,
Dylan
