Default Some questions to start.

I just bought an 87 XJ 4.0, auto with 4x4.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/268...7orig1jpeg.jpg

Now I want to put 30-31s on this xj and get a 2-3" lift on it but I need some where to start. nothing fancy just some lift.

Can anyone tell me a lift for this year or is this one decent? http://www.quadratec.com/products/76121_100.htm

Can I use the stock rims and put 30-31s on it?

Will I need anything extra that is not in the kits?

Will I need to buy something like sway bars or new brakelines to fit?

Is there a write up that I can read. I know my request is basics but I have allot planned and money is slow but I just need somewhere to start and do not want to buy junk.

This jeep will be a weekend warrior and daily driver.

I would go with 3 inch Rough Country lift, longer brake hoses for the rear. And yes, 31s will fit if you have the 7 inch wide rims or wider. The RC lift is $200 on carparts.com. Free shipping. Good luck.

Thanks man.

If I put 30s on there and something like spacers or spring blocks will that raise my jeep a few inches. I am not worried about flex as much as I clearing things overall, plus i dont want my gas milage to go to the ****s.

Just wondering have you personally or had this Jeep inspected? After 22 years and who knows how many miles the stock suspension (bushings, driveline, etc.) could be marginal at best.

Naa, I live in alabama no inspections or anything like smog. I will get the jeep to the shop for oil change and such, and let him check out under it, But I am just asking questions to get an idea. Like I said I am new, and need to start somewhere.

LOL Sounds like a plan but I dont know I have a few pull a parts around here and I might can buy a parts car, I am not worried right yet about it. They seem pretty good.

I just want to lift it a few inches and put some wider tires on there, Like I said this is my first jeep and I am kinda afraid about taking curbs around here, I seen jeeps on the rocks and stuff and they seem stable.

Just looking to lift it 2-3" and 30-31s on it with some black rims.

Yes you can put 30s on stock, just be aware with tired suspension it may rub up front when you turn or off roading.
