Ok I've decided on the RC 4.5 Xseries with 33" Mud Brutes. I know I may need a SYE but I think I'll wait and see how she does first. While I have it tore apart is there anything else I may need to do? Gears, bushings, tie rod ends?

The basics when installing a lift and taller rubber:
Brake lines
Shocks
Extended shackles
Gears
Speedometer gear
SYE (Yes you are going to need one so don'r procrastinate and screw up your t-case seal and bearings ya hose head.)
Longer rear driveshaft to mate with the SYE
Front sway bar disconnects (pull and discard the rear sway bar)

dont discard the rear sway though if you plan on towing. I found out it handles like crap and pulls side to side when I tow more than ton and half without the rear sway.

If you do a SYE you can use a stock front shaft in the rear.

It will be cheaper than a new replacement one.

I disagree.

The pre-97 XJ's have a enclosed tail shaft and you can get away with alot more lift before you need a T-case Drop..

But always remember each and every Jeep is different. What one needs others might not.

Lets do it this way. Here is the parts list for the 4.5 X series lift. Since it comes with a T-case drop I thought I would wait and see about the SYE. Not to mention, I have a NV242 and can't get an answer about if the 231 SYE works with it!

Front: Lifted coil springs, upper and lower adjustable X-Flex control arms, drop pitman arm, transfer case drop kit, adjustable track bar, brake line relocating brackets, and sway-bar disconnects.

Rear: Lifted leaf springs, u-bolts, and brake line relocating bracket.

Shocks: Kit includes (4) Hydro 8000 shocks.

you NEED a drop!! either that or the extended yoke. The reason is not all cause of vibes, but breaking as well. If you do a 4.5 and hit the breaks hard I guarantee the rear shaft will exit the the TC and drop on the ground as you are moving!!! this happened to me and it ripped holes in the undercarriage and shattered the axle yoke. So don't think it is all cause of vibes the TC drop is also to stop the yoke from coming out and destroying your jeep and cars around you.

Do the drop or do the SYE.
