So I Went Sopping For A CAT - Magnaflow Stainless
I found two direct fit, high flow CATS from Magnaflow for my 96 XJ
First one cost about $120 ( Magnaflow 23226 )
Second one cost about $325 ( Magnaflow 45226 )
Both have stainless bodies, ceramic honeycomb, and are " 3 way " convertors.
Look the same to me.
So why the cost difference? The 45226 is a part of the " California 4000 CAT " line.
Why does a California CAT cost almost three times as the other when spec wise they look identical and fit the same?
Anyone know?

because its stamped for CA, making it CA legal. When all of our jeeps were made, the cats were 100% the same construction across the US, so if youre in CA wondering why you have to buy some dumb CA cat, dont. Get a normal one shipped to a friend/family member and have them ship it to you. Its just some more CA stupidity and money wasting
