smoking jeep
ok. heres the story. my jeep has been very troublesome lately. it started when antifreeze dumped out the front end. we replaced the radiator, hoses, and thermostat. so far the leakage of antifreeze has stopped but for some reason it insists on blowing smoke out of the seal between the thermostat housing and the engine. i have no idea what is doing this. please help me. all comments or ideas welcome. oh, the smoke smells like burning antifreeze

Blown head gasket, me thinks.

how much money am i looking at with a blown head gasket?
|
It all depends. Are you planning on doing any of it yourself, or having a shop do it? If you're looking at shop, then shop around, ask peaople at work, anything you can think of. Good shops are tough to find, and crummy ones are all over the place!! I'd say in the neighborhood of 4-500 dollars, but I'm not sure.

well, as far as doing the work myself, i have never done anything like that and i'm only 16. but i know some guys that can help me. what in the way of materials would someone need for that?
|
Please keep in mind that this is my "guess" at your issue, and may be WRONG. You should have somebody look at it, so you have a definate answer to your problem. If you ahve never done this, you would need a buddy that had. Three guys that have never done, are no better than one, really!! Get yourself a FSM, or at least a Chiltons/Hanyes manual, it will tell you a great deal.

yeah. i will. i just wish the thing would work for once. anyone got any other ideas?
