this may be a stupid question but here goes anyway after drivin my cherokee if i pop the hood and open the oil filler cap on the valve cover it smokes quite a bit what would cause that??? is it bad for the jeep ???

This is perfectly normal when hot oil meets with cold air. It is oil that is vaporizing. No big deal at all, Bro.
