Default Smelly cat after injector upgrade...

I'm kinda glad actually...didn't know if I had a functioning cat or not. But, is this normal to have a rotten egg smelling cat after installing fresh injectors?

Yup, held the battery contacts together for 30 seconds then reconnected, ignition to on (not started), lights on for 10 seconds, ignition off. Then start. All correct?

Smelly cat can be a number of things. Running Rich, Not enough octane, bad cat...

Is this the jeep you did an E-85 conversion on?

Try resetting your ecu the good old way. unplug your battery overnight. Just to make sure it's not that.

Also, how is your MPGs?

Yea, though I'm running straight gas since E-85 isn't financially feasible right now (Only 20 cent difference. Needs to be more or E-85 actually costs more.)

unplug your battery overnight
Where's da plug?!

I'll have to get back to you on that one, the injectors have only been in since Sunday night.

Is doing the injector upgrade worth doing to my daily driver?

ABSOLUTELY. Look up Programbo. I bought mine from him, and they're top notch good quality. Better idle, better response, better MPG.

I'm not gonna say it will be for you, but for the 2 days I've had mine on I've been very pleased. Still not sure what's up with the smelly cat.

I can't tell yet if it's worth it in terms of MPG yet, only gone 17 miles so far.
I'll report back in my build thread when I have some numbers.

Mine came from Programbo too! They looked fresh out of the box.

Hmmm..I'm wondering if maybe you might have been better off with the 789 injectors. They are the same as the 784's except they are designed for vehicles that run "flex fuel" (E-85 Ethanol/unleaded).

9 times outta 10 the rotten egg smell means the cat is end of life and needs replacement.

give it some time. Wait till you get to your 50 cycles before doing anything.

Mine smelled for a while too, went away after the 50 turns.

Only 45 more turns to go!
Thanks for the insight.

I am rarely running Ethanol these days, it's no cheaper than regular gas where I am.
