I have an automatic 94 xj with a 4.0 with 218,000 on the odometer. Last night out of no where I began to drive away from my house and the vehicle began to shutter and skip very badly. It does not do it in reverse or neutral, only in drive. it will idle fine in drive until i give it gas, at which point the check engine light comes on and it will skip until i shift into neutral or reverse at which point the engine runs fine. Any ideas? will old transmission fluid cause this? Thanks
