Should I change the evap. core when the heater core is replaced?

My 2001 jeep cherokee has a leaky heater core and it needs to be be replaced. Is there any reason to replace the evaporator core? Thank you.

PS Change your coolant regularly and you won't have this expensive problem.

I just finished replacing my heater core last night in my '96 and while I was in there I also replaced the evap based on advice from numerous forums. I didn't read a lot about evap's failing and the one I took out of my 96 seemed to be in pretty good shape but then again it was 24 years old. But....with the quality of replacement parts these days I somewhat regretted replacing the original because I felt the new one could fail as soon as the old one. In other woods, it's probably a crap shoot.

It's your call. It's what, 8-10 hours to remove & replace the heater core? Perhaps another 30-60 minutes to replace the evaporator and recharge the A/C system? Personally for me, if and when I have to cross that bridge, I plan on doing a quality part replacement, especially with that amount of time involved. But, then again, how long do you plan on keeping the Jeep?
