Shocks uptravel vs down - what would you do?
Just put in some JKS shock conversoins and bar pin eliminators and now my front shocks seem too long. They were just a little too long to begin with and this seems to have put me over the edge.
I now have 3" up travel and 5" down travel. Down is currently limited by control arms hitting axle. Up is limited by shock length. I want to put in some drop brackets soon which I think will increase down travel to shock limit at 6.5".
I could get new shocks that would put me at 4.5" up travel and 4.5" down travel. Would you change it, or leave it alone?
I could also probably put in 3/4" coil spacers to increase my up travel some.
FYI - rig setup
Running a 4.5" lift on 32s, want to go to 33s at some point. Short arm lift. Rancho RS9000XL shocks, model RS999010, considering changing to RS999344. Currently have bump stops that allow for 4.5" up travel which pretty much stuffs my front tire, don't want any more up than that. I'd likely have to bump stop a little more when I go to 33s.

I put on the JKS mounts to get rid of a lot of rattling in my front shock mounts. Rides and sounds great now. I suppose I could sell the JKS stuff and just go to a stud mount/bar pin shock. I like the mounts though...
Starting to think that 3/4" spacer is the way to go. It only noses the jeep up 0.4 degrees, which I can't imagine I'd notice. That way my up travel is 3.75". When I go to 33s I'd have to bump stop to 4" anyway just to keep the tires out of the fenders, so I'd only be loosing .25" up travel if I bump stop to the 3.75" limit. Once I do the drop brackets I'll have 9.5" of total travel, 3.75" up and 5.75" down.

yeah. for what its worth, im at 4.5" up, 7.5" down and couldnt be happier. 33s, 6.5" coils. if i allowed any more uptravel, the tires would contact the inner fender.

I'm definitely not going for high speed offroad performance, I'm setting this up for high mountain trails in colorado and rock crawing in moab, but not the REALLY intense stuff... Based on this I'm figuring more down travel than up, but is 3-3.75" up enough??

Sounds like I'm in about the right place then with 3" up and 5" down. When I do the drop brackets and get more down then I'll probably do the coil spacers puttng me at 3.75 up and 5.75 down. Thanks for your help.
