shocks.

okay. my shocks for my stock 95 xj auto 4.0 are garbage. i feel every pebble in the road. what should i look into. roughcountry? and i dont need a lift to put the better shocks on right?

jeepgrlxj 02-17-2011 10:07 AM

No, you won't need a lift to replace the shocks, as long as the shocks are recommended for 0" of lift. If you want the best, go with Old Man Emu.

Opinion, Monroe makes them, monroe also makes 3/4's of the shocks we talk about on here. Just get some plain old monroes, just as good and you dont have to pay for the logo.

Ever tried OME? Wonderful, def not just paying for the logo.

Yes, I also distribute many other Monroe made shocks daily. Not to mention wheel most of them.

The OME Nitrochargers are the same shock as the Monroe Magnum. Same internals, same valving. Except the OME's are $85, the Monroe labeled are $33.

Do you recommend the Magnums? I'm in the market for shocks too and was looking at the sensa-trac.

I'm stock so far but I'm considering a mild (2'') lift.

jeepgrlxj 02-17-2011 02:27 PM

Haha if you say so.

Agreed. If you want a smooth ride get a Caddilac. Period.

Do you have any fact to back up your skepticism?

Diesel isn't gonna blow smoke up your tail. I've seen many of his posts and he's shown many times he's not full of ****.

So unless you can show otherwise, I'd suggest keeping your comments to yourself.

DannyH

I rarely recommend gas shocks, but the magnums are very well built just like any other monroe shock.

Offroad, no, on road, yes. Reason being, if you dent the gas shock it will leak, hydro shocks are a bit more durable.

So stick with the sensa-trac for an 'all-purpose' shock?

Thanks for the advice Diesel!

Yes, the sensa trac is a good riding shock, meant for passenger vehicles.

Aren't gas shocks a bit fickle, anyway?

Thought I read something about them being less reliable, maybe durability was what I was reading about.

Diesel 02-17-2011 03:20 PM

Yea, its really a hit or miss. But I try not to say that cause it sparks arguements. But yes, Ive had 2 good sets, that I ruined, and 2 bad sets from the factory.

I just installed Rough Counrty 9000 shocks on my 99 cherokee and they ride great and were only 39 bucks a piece at q tec
