Shocks for ~4 inch lift
 

Ok, so I am building a lift and have already figured out the rear shocks but want to get rid of the stud mount shocks on the front and use the shock conversion kit but don't know what shocks i need for this to work. According to Rock Krawler Suspension I need 17" collapsed and 29" extended. I spent several hours trying to figure out what vehicles i can use to get a part number but am having no luck. Has anyone done where I can find info on this? I haven't picked out a brand of shocks yet but am looking at spending $200 or less on 4 shocks. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Stock Jeep JK shocks! That's what I just installed on my rig this weekend. They ride great and are cheap (I got them free from a dude with a new lifted JK). I've seen them on ebay and craigslist for 50-75 for the set. You have to press the pin out of your old shocks or get bar pin eliminators for the front though.

I looked them up and don't the fronts use a stud? I am trying to get rid of the stud (I just don't like that setup...)

Do you know the extended/collapsed on a stock JK?

Do u have part numbers or anything for front shocks that have a 12 inch compr/exten and also have eyelets on both ends? The auto parts stores around here are too slow to understand what I want and I don't really want to start calling manu for part numbers

Checked out the site but they are still using the stud style shocks for the front.

Thanks for the help!! I looked at the link you sent and it looks like the only shocks that have a 12 inch comp/exte are 18-30 - i don't know how that extra inch would matter then it comes to on the vehicle.

at 4" you should be looking at 10s, not 12s.

According to Rock Krawlers website they recommend 12... is there something different about their kit that makes them want more? I will do 10 if that is all I need. If I do 10 on the front what would you recommend for the rear? Or could I do that same?

Called Rough Country and they recommended 8113 shocks (which is a 11 inch eyelet-eyelet shock) They said i could use them both front and rear (rears are about a half inch longer than needed but would work)

10" F/R.. maybe a BPE.

I run 8s on a 3", my friend runs 10s on a 4.5", another friend runs 12s on a 5.5"
