*Shocked*

my lift is only just over a year old and one spring already went bad, so I change them out and now Im kinda wondering could the shocks be bad too... its kind of a silly question but how would i know if the shocks are bad. and if they are will it hurt my suspension if i drove with them on untill I had the cash to get new ones. I dont plan on doing any offroading with them but I just wanna know if i can go back and fourth to work without jeopardizing the suspension. and I plan on getting a bigger lift (long arm)within the next year or so, what kind do you think i can get that are not too expensive but will last me the year...

what lift is it? If they replaced a spring, see if they will replace the shocks

jeepxj412 Jul 11, 2010 11:23 AM

its the rough country 3 inch w/ 2" shackles and 1.5" spacers

mike albo Jul 11, 2010 11:24 AM

were the shocks even long enough?

jeepxj412 Jul 11, 2010 11:26 AM

they were for a 3" lift. so yea, till i put the spacers on. but they still had a lot of play in them

mike albo Jul 11, 2010 11:27 AM

you may have over extended them

jeepxj412 Jul 11, 2010 11:30 AM

would I see any damage on the shock itself? or is the interiors just f*&^ed up

mike albo Jul 11, 2010 11:32 AM

are they leaking at all?

jeepxj412 Jul 11, 2010 11:37 AM

nope, the only reason i think they're bad is they are relatively easy to push in and pull out

mike albo Jul 11, 2010 11:39 AM

are they the nitro or hydro?

jeepxj412 Jul 11, 2010 11:41 AM

nitro

mike albo Jul 11, 2010 11:43 AM

if they are nitro you would need to just about stand on them to collapse them,so yeah they are bad

It sounds like you need new shocks. Will it harm your suspension driving on worn shocks? No. Your ride quality just wont be too good.
