97 XJ automatic. Normally it has a little color like orange or redish that tells you what gear your in when you move it from park to reverse etc........when i got the jeep ( i dont know if it lights up when it engages another gear or if it just moves the colored sticker thing to the position your engaged in) well it has never worked and wanna know if anyone else has had this happened? if so what is it? maybe the switch broke to turn it, or it fell off inside, how easy is it to fix? Its not big deal but if its a 10 minute fix i'll do it. Suggestions as to what it is? Thanks

theres a lil light bulb inside, pop the shifter trim piece up, think you can get to it that way.

Sweet! Thanks, i wasn't sure. So just replace the bulb i guess....thanks

I just got a 2000 Sport with the same problem; none of the gear indicator lights are ever lit up. Was it just the bulb? I can't find anything about these lights in to service manual.

Oops just realized this was 2010, not 2011. Well if anyone has had this issue let me know!
