Shifter Issue
 

The shift lever on my 2000XJ automatic will not push all the way foward far enough to get the key out. Is there an adjustment and if so, how?

push down on the handle. Sometimes with my shifter the handle will come up a little bit and the button wont push the pine down far enough to let it move. Mine does it all the time

How do I repair this issue...is there a linkage to adjust?

just hit the top of the handle down. what happens is the handle slow works its way loose and up on the shaft of the shifter and when you press the button on the handle it wont push the pin down inside the shaft far down enough to disengage it and allow it move freely. Sometimes it will come loose just enough to make it through all the gears but make it difficult or impossible to go to park i would just give that a shot and see what happens. If not you will have to take a look at it
