My 93 is doing the same thing as others have posted....turn the key and nothing. Lots of battery power but no crank no nothing. Tried it in neutral...nothing. Checked fuses and relays...nothing. Any other ideas?

Not quite enough info. Do you have good battery connections...IOW does your horn/headlights work?

This.

Try starting while wiggling the shift lever. Know that even if this doesn't work, the problem could still be the NSS.

NSS is a very common problem for the automatic. They can often be "refurbished" and restore full function. Here is a how to link.

A quick check can be done with a meter. With the key in the ON position, check for approximately full battery voltage at the starter. If you have it, then the starter is suspect. If you do NOT have it (which is what I think you will find), then control electronics are in play and the NSS is your #1 suspect.

Please explain exactly how to use my first multimeter. To test the starter, I set it to DC and put the RED lead on the large starter nut. I put the BLACK lead to ground at the frame somewhere? I should see 12V, correct?

The large cable brings power from the battery - this will always be energized. You need to find the smaller wires coming to the solenoid out of a loom from the rear if the engine bay. The engine block, if not covered in oil, will also work just fine for a ground.

If your multimeter has ranges it should be set to the 100 or 200 V setting (varies between models - don't use the 10V). If you reverse the leads nothing exciting happens. A DVM will just show a negative voltage, an analog unit will try to slam the needle off the left side.

.
Is this a 2 person test? One person must hold the multimeter, and the other cranks the engine?
Is this dangerous in any way? (In case the engine starts)

To test if 12V are getting to the starter, which bolt do I touch the RED lead to?
1) Top left small?
2) Top right big?
3) Bottom big?
