Never use blocks over 1" IMO. Only then if they are solid steel.
I have 3/4" zero rate blocks under mine and they are fine. But the ones companies sell are mainly for heavier rated leafs. |
If your running stock rims you may have rubbing on the sway bar if you use blocks. When I put the blocks on I got rubbing so bad I couldnt drive it till I got aftermarked rims. The sway bar normally sits 'inside' the rim but when you put blocks on it lowers the axle/rim in relation to the sway bar, or at least it did on mine. A shackle probably wouldnt do that.
Other than that my blocks havent given me too much trouble...and it was a great excuse to get new rims :) |
blocks arent a bad idea, just be conservative in how high you stack them if you wheel it hard. im actually gonna be running 2" blocks pretty soon, they dont make 3" shackles (already have a 1" shackle) so that wont work, and im on a budget. :(

I have some boomarang shackles I may be interested in selling.
PM me if interested. And if you go blocks which I did for over a year, they worked fine. Also have them up forsale on the board. |

I love em. |
Besides being somewhat unsafe the blocks tend to wear out springs faster b/c they add leverage to the spring wrap problem inherent in leaf springs.
