Still no start... any suggestions?
Here's a vid. This is the closest it's come to starting yet. Just so you know, I've replaced the CPS, rewired it directly to the ECM with the patch harness, replaced cap, plugs, wires, and rotor, and replaced the coil. The fuel pump is pumping, but I don't know if it's got enough pressure because I don't have a gauge to check that with.

This thing last started a little over a year ago and ran perfect then. Timing as far as the wires is correct, dunno if the timing chain slipped or anything. The thing has 165k on it.

I've checked, double checked, triple checked, quadruple checked, and then tried switching the wires around and had the biggest backfires ever. So, I'd say they're right. I'll post a pic of that in a minute so if it is somehow wrong.

OK that's not alot of mileage for a jeep motor so its probably not the timing chain that slipped. I sent you a link that may help you out...Tj

Should the intake be wet-looking? Here's a pic down the throttle body:
Every time the fuel pump runs I smell gas like there's a bad leak, but I see no visible leaks. The only thing I know that's leaking gas is the valve where you check the fuel pressure, and so long as the cap is on that tightly it does not leak outside of the cap.

check your fuel pressure regulator. on the end of the fuel rail.. the diaphram get old and leaks fuel throught the vac line to the intake..my 89 did that

Could I check it by just pulling the vacuum line and turning the ignition on to let the fuel pump put pressure on it, and check to see if gas comes out of it? I just tried that and no gas came out of it.

well when i figure mine was bad. my jeep was actualy running at the time and i knocked the vac line off by accident and gas shot out..so im not real sure how you would go about testing it... pull a plug and see of its fouled out.
