Default Sensor Replacement Help

So I travel cross country a lot and thought its time I upgrade/replace the sensors on the Jeep as it has over 230K miles and the previous owner did not take care of it. Did a search on Autozone and come up with this list of sensors. Is any tuning required if any of the sensors are replaced? Are there any sensors I missed I should replace or one that don't really need to be replaced?

MAP Sensor
Oxygen Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Air Charge Temperature Sensor
Knock Sensor

Bad idea to replace a known good part with one that is possibly defective.

The following is written towards a 1987-1990 "Renix" XJ since you didn't provide any details about your Jeep, and you mentioned a knock sensor.

> MAP Sensor

Doesn't need replacing except if faulty. Check that the vacuum tube from the throttle body is in good shape: Most MAP-related problems are broken vacuum tubes.

> Oxygen Sensor

Regular wear item, only lasts about 80k. Replace with a Bosch unit.

> Throttle Position Sensor

Clean connector and test.

> Crankshaft Position Sensor

This is the only sensor in a Renix that I believe can leave you stranded. They eventually fail due to heat. You can get a replacement at the dealership, or a performance high altitude OEM unit from Rock Auto (though they may have sold out) Do NOT buy a CKP from AutoZone unless you like being stranded! Many people
Go through 5 of them before just sucking it up and going to the dealer.

> Air Charge Temperature Sensor

Remove the sensor from the manifold, clean it, reinstall. Clean the connector and test.

> Knock Sensor

Clean the connector if concerned.

Very important maintenance to keep your Renix on the road and happy:

thanks for the heads up, I just don't want to get stranded somewhere due to a faulty sensor. The jeep runs great, no issues (knocks on wood) just wanted to do some preventative maintenance but if you guys just say clean the connectors and don't replace I'll do just that. And thanks for the heads up about the knock sensor, i just did a basic search for sensors for my 94 XJ on Autozone, haven't purchased anything, just was looking into what sensors it had/maybe should be replaced. This is my first vehicle that has sensors, so its still new to me. Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

And ya the iPhone App lacks the ability to show the sigs, stupid imo, but other than its a great app.
