Default searched gauge swap question

i recently picked up a 98 xj with the idiot cluster. i have searched and read at least a dozen cluster swap threads. in a couple of them it sounded like the 97-01 oil and coolent sensors were actual sensors not just switches. i plan on swapping my cluster in ther near future but wanted to verify if the later xj had the sensor instead of switches, beofre spending unnecessary money on the sensors

thank you for the help

i just swapped my gauges yesterday, i have a 96 and if you have a 91-96 it will plug straight in to a 91-96 and you have to get a temp sensor and an oil pressure sensor, it all bolts out and directly bolts in.

Now for your situation, i belive a 97-01 will swap directly over and you dont have to get the sensors because they are already there instead of the switches, so goahead and do it i am 95% sure it will all work perfectly

If it dosent, which im sure it will work, the sensors are only like 15$ a peice
