Seafoam
I've never yet used the stuff. I got a pint of it from advanced today. Where should I add it? I assume a bit in the gas, a bit into the oil, anything else?

about 5 ounces in the brake booster vac line..do it slow so it doesn't stall, let it sit for 5 minutes then start it back up and let it run for a bit
|
On other cars, I have pulled the vacuum line from the brake booster and slowly poured it in to clean the intake. I personally wouldn't put it in the oil...don't like the thought of thin solvents on the seals. If you do put it in the oil, I think it calls for an immediate oil change.
|
it's a little easier to let the booster line suck it out of a measuring cup
|
i've seen it poured directly into the intake, is that a bad thing? oh and i know for a fact it wil SMOKEEEEEE like a mofo:D

the correct way is to use a bottle feed, like an IV Drip in the hospital, I have a feed bottle by everwear products, all you need is a bottle with a valve on the tube, run your revs at 1500 rpm and feed the sea foam in to the brake booster line at a fast drip, 12oz should take about 45 mins if done correctly. I will post pics of the bottle soon!
dont do it too fast or too much, it can actually wash the lubrication away from the rings and valve stems during application:thumbdown: the ever wear 3 step intake clean has an additive to put in the oil beforehand to prevent bore washing. |
