Saturday

I was at Silver Lake Sand Dunes and about to take my third trip of the day over Test Hill. As I gunned it at the bottom the check engine light began blinking and I lost power. It was sputtering, revving and slowing, revving and slowing. It was about 3500 rpms when it would sputter. I drove it around for awhile on the flat part and the light stopped blinking but never went off. It stopped sputtering. When i took it out on the road it seemed ok. Any ideas? I am going to have it looked at this week but was wondering what you guys thought it might be.

Fuel delivery, your pump could be on the way out. Any chance you have water in fuel? Did you get the ignition wet?

There was a lot of water and I went through some puddles but not fast and no deep water. I doubt I got it wet. Fuel pump makes sense, unfortunately.

On hill? Lower on gas than the first two trips? Sucked an air bubble or two in the pickup? If it ran good on level ground, but not on a hill, start looking for things that change with angle. It could be the pump (doubt that it would only do it then), something moving and blocking the pickup or filter, or simply sucking air.

Hope that this helps.
