sanden compressor help
 

Can anyone tell me which port is the intake and which is the ouput? Im guesing the small port is the intake?
Im including a pic of the compressor sticker and any info on this unit would be great. Im putting together an onboard air system in my XJ and trying to find as much info as possible. And Im sticking with the sanden so please dont comment telling me to get a york. I know theyre better but I dont have the time or money for one.

on most compressors there will be a "S" (suction) "D" (discharge) but if not, mind you do this with the engine OFF. put your fingers over both ports and with the other hand turn the clutch on the compressor in the normal direction of rotation. you should feel one pull and one push air.

IMO yorks are overrated unless you plan on filling more than a 12-15gal tank. Yorks spit oil just like a sanden will, and I've seen a couple sandens run without an air oiler, just like a york.

Fill the "crankcase" on the sanden with 10-40w and your good to go, if you do have excessive oil making it into your tank(your seperator will fill in 10 mins.), run gear oil and always run a oil/air separater. A couple guys have filled the "crankcase" with grease and had that work just fine too, but I've never seen this personally.

Most of these S10 guys are running sandens with no air oilers, up to 300 psi on 8-10gal tanks, on impressive duty cycles. Keep that sanden 709!!

The smaller fitting is typically the high side of the compressor.
