rustys short arm problem

my jeep has a rustys 6.5 short arm kit. the control arms are adjustable so my question is i think i have a little bit of play in the adjustable part becauser i have checked everything possible and i think it is those control arms. has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to fix it? im thinking about maybe just welding the adjustable part together? but i dont want to ruin anything.

i would call rustys first and tell them... maybe they would hook it up... but i dont see how you got play there unless there run all the way out...

i looked on the website and the new arms look different than mine... i guess thats what i get for putting on a used lift kit but im pretty darn sure thats what it is

they still may hook it up... maybe you just need a new johnny joint or something... i wouldnt weld it man...

these are the ones i have. what is a johnny joint?

do you have the older style, with bushing on both end and no jam nut? if so those are the ones i used to run. mine had the same problem. i just pumped them full of grease every once and a while and it made it a little better.

*edit: yup those are the ones i had.

the part that screwes in with the bushing is the joint... johnny joint is just a specific kind used often... you can try replacing that joint and see if it fits tighter...

did they clunk over bumps? i dont think i've ever greased them.. maybe i'll try that

let us know how it goes.

Im thinking of going through Rustys for my 4.5 kit. Ive talked to them over the phone. they seem nice and knowledgable enough, but before I go with them it would be nice to see how it worked out for you.

yup, they did. you should really be greasing them on a regular basis. i greased them every oil change, or whenever they saw water.

OK what you have is an ADjustable control arm with bushings. To me it looks like you have them screwed too far out, but I dont run rusty's stuff so I am not 100% on that. ANytime you have as much lift as you do running a short arm lift, you will have issues.

As for welding them up.... I guess yo cen, but keep in mind the heat generated during welding can weaken the part.
