Default MPG

I drove to Orlando and back Monday, it was 234 miles round trip. The guage shows 1/2 tank but I havent refilled it yet but should be about 20 mpg. I usually set the cruise at 66 to get this milage. I know at 70 it drops to the high 17's. low 18's. Stock 99 Sport with 235-70r-15's

Read this whole page...

http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...iagnostics.htm

Could also be you coolent temp sensor or the manifold air temp sensor. Both help the computer control the air fuel mixture.

With the vehicle running and warmed up go take a big sniff of your exhaust. Does it smell like gas?

It doesnt smell rich at all but i can smell a gassy smell coming from under the hood after i get on it sometimes. I am also getting pretty bad blow by but no smoke from my muffler no lack of power

check your fuel pressure regulator, i was smelling gas every now and then and finaly looked under the hood and saw fuel pooling on the heat sheld. not cool! it was from a bad o ring to the rail. good luck.

X2, I had a 85 ford ranger with a leaky carb, not enough to notice on the ground, but I sure noticed the mileage go from 22 to 8 mpg. Definatly check on the whole fuel system looking for a leak!

Check your fuel system all the way back to the tank, it could be leaking anywhere. If your exhaust doesn't smell like raw gas then you probably have a leak, it has to be going somewhere.

Hmmmm, that sounds like a TPS or MAP sensor then but you said you replaced them. You caould have a broken wire for one of those sensors tho, Unplug the MAP while it running and listen for a change to verify it's connected and working. Did you adjust the new TPS to the proper voltage?

Yes everything is on i had a bad map sensor before and when i unplug it the idle drops. I went behind it today after i drove it for awhile and it did not smell rich at all is there any way gas could some how get into the intake thats the only place i can think it is going. Also drove it hard shut it down right away pulled a plug and it looks fine
