Rough start/No start issue

'93 4.0 189,xxx miles. Im having a weird rough start no start issue, I have changed the IAC and TPS. The CPS was supposedly changed by the PO. This thing sat for almost a year, I am now just getting back to it. Charged the battery up and put it in the Jeep, turns over just fine, but was a PITA to get started. I had to hold the throttle to the floor just for it to even attempt to start, it would catch and turn over but would die when I let off the throttle. If I feathered the throttle back up for a bit it would finally idle on its own, but would idle high around 1200-1300, even after it warmed up. Turned the Jeep off and tried to start again but had the same issue, will turn over just fine but fails to start without putting the gas pedal to the floor and will die unless I feather the throttle. I fear it has the 'hot start' issue due to a bad CPS, as this was the original problem almost a year ago, Jeep would start up just fine when cold but if sat for a bit failed to start. I checked the CPS connection with a multimeter and it seemed fine. Sorry for the long paragraph but thats what its doing. Any help would be appreciated.

check the ground on the starter. mine was doing that and turned out to be a bad ground. starts right up now.

I think you have more than one issue. Let's see if we can connect them.
What brand TPS did you put in?

Maybe I missed something here.....the starter is bolted to the engine/bellhousing etc, so where did you fix the ground issue ? From the battery ground lead to the engine ?

The starter grounds by means of where its bolted on,so that mating surface has to be clean and tight.....

I did not think of checking the grounding on the starter, I actually replaced the starter on it about 18 months ago, Ill look at that. And the TPS was just one I had gotten from Autozone, when I bought the Jeep it had shifting issues, replaced the TPS and it was good to go.

OP says it turns over just fine. So it's not the starter.
