Default rough idle poor mileage

I recently replaced injector O rings due to a fuel leak, now it idles rough and blows black soot out of the exhaust,at idle.It also has super bad gas mileage,I may have mixed up some of the vacume lines, can you mix up the injector plugs,do you need the clips to hold the boot in place

i assume it is a 4.0,what year is it? it is hard to mix up the injector electrical wires but it can happen, the metal clip is not needed but should be there. I would look at your vacuum lines,it sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Knowing the year will help.

It could definitely be some of the vacuum lines near the throttle body or TPS.

Thanks,

Your exhaust is black and probably smells like gas because its missing.
Check your injector connections, make sure they are in the right order.
You may have also plugged or damaged a tip when you pulled/replaced them.
Good tip is to soak em in injector cleaner before they go back in.

After you get that taken care of check your plugs. They're probably coated with crap, and if you've run it like that for long check your o2 sensor as well.

Hope this helps.

Also, I always tape and number plugs and injectors when I pull em... I know, Newb right. Haha

Default Idle Air Control

It is located on the throttle body next to the throttle position sensor,I think only the 1987 to 1990 have this part
