Rough Idle 88 Renix
Hello all. I recently purchased an 88 Cherokee Pioneer, and it has a pretty rough idle. Sometimes it idles really well and sounds fine, but then it will bog down a bit and sound like its going to stall. It hasn't stalled on me yet, but its nerve racking sitting at a stop light hoping it doesn't die on me. There are no issues once moving.
Yesterday I took off the IAC valve and cleaned it out. I also cleaned the top part of the throttle body where it connects to the air intake. The IAC valve was relatively clean, no soot or carbon buildup like I've seen in videos. I did find that one of the torx head bolts that holds down the air intake was stripped out, so I'll have to re-thread it once I get the proper tools. It still holds down tight as the other two bolts are solid, but definitely on my list to fix. Cleaning these did not fix the problem. While poking around at the TPS, I noticed that the rough idle can be triggered by pushing down on the small lever on the TPS. I think I've found my problem, but I wanted to check here first and get a second opinion before ordering a new TPS.
What do you all think? What are some other places to check?

Wow, thanks for the link! I had not seen cruiser54.com, but I will start going down the list and doing all the maintenance suggested on the site. That is one information packed site!

Even better, Cruiser is an active member and all around awesome dude.
I mentioned the link because you appear to be a newer member and often the first question/suggestion from Cruiser is "have you done tips X,Y,Z", so you can be ahead of the game
