::Are rough country bushings really that bad?::
 

i am thinking about ordering a 3" kit from rough country and i am wondering if the bushings are that bad? i am not getting new control arms, so the only bushings in the kit will be the ones on the shocks and the rear leaf springs.
tell me what yall think?
i was going to go with rustys but they wont have their kit available for a week and a half at the EARLIEST.

It's the control arm bushing that are the problem. Just FYI Rusty's squeak like a mother.

You apparently have read some of the posts/threads on the issues with the bushings.. some are having issues and others are not yet. Is getting the lift now more valuable to you than waiting and getting the other kit?

Are you willing to do the work later if you do have issues? If you are and need the lift now it may be worthwhile to you.

yep the bushings are crap. not to mention their leaf springs sag and ride like crap. also had a bent control arm of theirs in the shop last week. it was on a dd. no way in hell i would run a RC product. they are cheap for a reason. there are so MANY other options out there that you shouldnt even need to look into RC. buy quality not crap! :grin:

I've got the same question...

I know that polyurethane bushings all tend to squeak and ride harder than stock. That is why the OEMs avoid them...customer complaints. But I am reading lots of negative comments on Rough Country stuff and would like to know why. FANTIC238 just recommended RC components to me for a kind of a quickie lift to allow me to mount some 31 10.50's. That seems like my solution - it's cheap and quick and I don't want or need any more than a couple inches of lift.

So why all the bad press on RC??? At first blush, I'm pretty impressed with their profile. Is it all hype?

because their product is inferior to MANY MANY other lift kit company's out there. you hit the nail on the head, they are cheap. you definitely get what you pay for in the lift kit world. search NAXJA and you will find threads about how bad the RC product is.

you spend a good chunk of $$ on a kit. wouldnt you expect the kit to last longer then a year without replacing their bushings, leaf springs, or bent trackbars?

Just FYI, I've had RC bushngs and lower control arms (for a 3" lift) for about a 1 1/2 years now with no problems whatsoever. It's true that when new, the poly bushings squeak like a mother, but I found out that the cure for this is soak the s**t out of them with heavy spray silicone. Once it had a chance to soak in, they haven't squeaked since.

I've had the upper C/A bushings wear out in 4 months.
Funny thing it was the greasable ends even though I greased them every couple weeks instead of every 3000 miles.
I have not had bending issues with the L/A's and I've used them as skid plates lol
I'm actually happy with it so far except the bushing issue.

i've had no problems with mine. i ride mostly rock and mountain trails, but i've only disconnected the sway bar once or twice.
i have heard of some people saying that the RC bushings wore out in months, but i've also heard just as many say that they have used them for a few years and still no problems. maybe they had a bad batch at some point.
