They have had them at autozone for awhile, never thought to check the reviews though.

Buy one and cut it open.

Appears they are made by Purolator. To what spec, who knows?

WIX is generally the go to for me. I actually decided to try a Mobil 1 filter this oil change. I have heard good things about them from around the internet.

Rotella filters are made by Purolator. Media spec is 20 microns (diesel service).

Purolator also makes Motorcraft & other private label filters. Wix makes Napa & Carquest.

I typically use Purolator, Motorcraft, Wix & Napa as well as Baldwin/Hastings in my jeeps as well as my customers' vehicles. I would not pay extra for 'Rotella' brand filters. On the other hand, Rotella (dino) multi vis oil is an excellent choice for older engines due to it's higher levels of zinc additives.

Same low-grade quality you'd expect from other filters at Wal Mart. A real disappointment that Shell put their brand on it.

WIX is still a good buy.

oh yeah. That's just how we all want to spend our time and money. Cutting open oil filters to do our own research. Just buy a freakin filter and use it. It ain't a forever purchase. You will need a new one in a few thousand miles.

There are video reviews on YouTube where people take them apart and compare construction quality and methods.

Yeah it's actually pretty crazy how cheaply made some filters are.
