Question Rocksliders? version 1.2

Question:
Looking for a good set of rocksliders for my '97 Cherokee.

Tougher question:
I'd like to get them in aluminum.

Reason? Dont want to add a bunch of weight, as being lightweight is a benefit of owning a Cherokee, right?

Anyone have any links? Sources?

Personally I would not use a soft metal like aluminum, here is a link on some steel ones.

These links are about mileage after installing armor and other mods.

You can use a much thinner wall with steel then aluminum and be just as strong I would not use a soft surface it will drag more when going over rocks then steel will.

Weight down below belt line is fine. Rocksliders should be strong enough to support the vehicles weight. Aluminium is too soft for rocksliders.

There are a few companies that make aluminum bumpers, but not rock sliders. You would have to make your own. If you use T6 aluminum, it is stronger than mild steel. That is the stuff stop signs are mad out of, you know the ones everybody shoots and will take quite a wallop.

I highly recommend AGAINST aluminum. I have some rock sliders and the two of them only add about 60 lbs to my 3000 pound vehicle... you're talking about a 2% weight gain there.... that's less than a tank of gas.
