You can see where my inner rocker is starting to rust. The pinch weld you were talking about is rusting a little. I think I will have enough to weld to still though.

my rockers are rusted out pretty bad... I need to replace them baaaad!! I want the stock rockers no rock sliders or anything. to order them from some place like quadratec they are 70 bucks each at least. I found on ebay a company called classic 2 current fabrications selling 18gauge steel rockers for 57.99. I was wondering if anyone knew if they are a legit source. Or know of a good place to find a good deal on rockers. Thanks.

yeah mine were worse than yours. A word of warning though... it's always worse than it looks! You could start scraping rust away to find good metal and end up with the entire rocker and pinch seam on the ground in a red-brown pile. Hopefully not, but it's always best to be prepared for the worst!

yea that makes since. Hopefully it doesn't happen that way but still better to be prepared. The spots where the pinch is rusting away? if i find clean metal next to them would it be wise to weld in more metal to weld my outer rocker to?

If your inner rocker is still solid enough to weld stuff to, you could probably fab up some replacement pinch sections for what's missing and weld those to the inner rocker. Should just be a couple of simple bends along the length of a piece of sheet. I would personally want metal-on-metal for the length of the pinch on the bottom of the rocker, just to keep as much crud out of there as possible.

Not trying to hijack but this is what I have. I'd like to replace since I live in Michigan and they love salt in the winter and I'd like to do it while I still have something solid. What do you think I should do???

Attack it with a wire wheel/ wire brush then bondo where necessary (or new metal if holes) then primer and paint

Here's a good video.

This guy uses pop rivets. Interesting to see how he does it.

Yea I did. Overall, they seemed to fit up pretty well. Since I caught mine before the rust got very bad, I decided to patch new pieces into the existing rocker panels. It was a lot easier and I am bedliner coating the rockers/bottom of the doors. I got pretty caught up in what I was doing so I only snapped a couple of pictures.

I sanded everything down and POR'd the rockers, bottom of doors on the inside and outside, and any exposed areas inside the cab. Here's a couple of pictures of what I did.

I will take some pictures tomorrow after I get everything covered in bedliner coating.
