Rebuilt computer installed. No code, miles shown. New wires, 4 were bad. Sprayed, no start. Has fuel pressure at rail. Doing compression check tomorrow. ANY IDEAS?? Also will check for TDC on cam timing

Year: 1998 Classic (I'll get it running soon....) and 02 Grand
Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Engine: 4.0
That model year was pretty sensitive to time travel side-effects. They can get pretty crazy. You might have to run it through a deframbulator matrix.

Did you replace the computer because it was bad, or you thought it was bad? What was the original problem? Were there any codes with the old computer? if so, what were they? Also, what year is it? You put 1968. Is it a 1988, or 1998?

Wow, A 4 step process. I never knew. OK its a 1986. I de-frambulatorized it and bingo. I'll have to get back to you on the results, just as soon as I locate the block.

the year was all wrong. Its an 89 I'm pretty sure. I think I told the last guy it was an 86. Sorry. The orig cpu did not display any codes so I figured it was shot. I'm going to check the coil tomorrow.

1989 is part of the Renix era computer system. It does not have the ability to throw codes, it will only show live data with the right old school scanner connected to the 2 yellow covered ports on the passenger side fender area of the motor. 3 basics spark, fuel and air, which don't you have ? Any raw fuel on those plugs ? CPS if bad will essentially not fire injectors or let it spark, so testing it is needed. In fact all the sensors can be tested with a multimeter in some fashion. Cruiser's sight has most of the testing values. A factory service manual can be had online still I believe.
