Rocker arm preload and oil spurt from pushrod
Like it says...i have been fighting a #2 misfire for a month. Have ruled out dozens of issues. Had the valve cover off to make sure nothing mechanical...a totally isolated cyl with no prev issues was occasionally spurting oil from the front rocker on nbr 3 . Do i need to increase pressure on nbr 3 or release pressure on that rocker...not sure of the process. Thanks

Rockers should be torqued to spec. as far as i know there isn't adjustability from the factory setup.

They are not adjustable but that does not mean you don't set the preload clearances. You have a collapsed lifter there. All the oil pressure to the lifters is escaping that one gusher, leaving the others dry. You'll need to take the head off and replace all the lifters and the critical part is to set the preload on the new ones. If you don't know how to do that there are complete tutorial threads you can search on here.
Then change the oil and filter. |
