RHD XJ Alternator Bracket
It appears the RHD model came from the factory with the alternator placed where LHD XJs typically have the AC compressor (see photo). This is the position I would like to relocate my alternator to.
Could someone in the RHD XJ world look up part numbers for the OEM bracketry and other parts needed, or direct me to a source to find them? Also interested in knowing the serpentine belt routing, etc.
I’m interested in parts to fit year models ‘89 and ‘96.
Thanks for any pertinent info/help with this.

you need to download and check the Parts Manual for that year.
In Australia we are RHD, but XJ was only introduced here in '94
USA models may or may not have been made as "Postal vehicles" which have RHD

actually the picture you show is identical to my 3 x '96.
therefore I can advise the 95 & 96 (maybe other years) RHD XJ have the alternator as shown, and you would be able to obtain all the needed parts on Australian Ebay & other sites who dismantle XJ
(maybe some US models where set up like that ? )
there are at least 2 different belt lengths for those years
imo, you need to download the relevant Parts Manuals..I found them somewhere on the Internet for free
Its a good location, and belt tension is controlled by the alt

I want to say that the bracket Part# is 53010051. #4 on the diagram below. Thinking there is more to it then that and my '94 to '96 parts catalog gets a little confusing here.
Found this;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jeep-Cher...oAAOSwmLlX-dhG
Best I can tell the bracket is not available anywhere. Assuming I even have the right one.

Sorry for the large photos. The number on my top bracket is 53010050. When I search for it the bracket looks right but the name says engine mount bracket.
On top of it is the tensioner and I'm not sure about what holds it below.
To add, I do not have the bracket that Ralph has found, my alternator is held in one position with no adjustment, the tensioner in the pic above does that job.

imo, you will soon find yourself in a world of hurt if you start moving things around, as the brackets, belts, pulleys, tensioners are a bit different even 95-96-97
I know this is a hassle from doing it on other vehicles !
it should be possible though, probably using a non-standard size belt
fwiw, my '96 have the alt on top RH, with PS on top LH, A/C below. Everything can be easily removed

Thanks for all the responses. After doing some searching on eBay uk, I've figured out the steel bracket in my photo is part # 53010190. It's common to the ZJ as well.
In the photo below, the item is described as a complete bracket with the bottom through bolt. Curious if anyone knows what part the through bolt attaches to, allowing the alternator to pivot?
Great help folks, I really appreciate it!

Found another photo. Looks like I'll need parts #12 (lower bracket) and #7 (idler pulley) as well...

Otherwise I was not even close. LOL.
But did think there was more then just that upper bracket. So there is that.

Why are these Jeeps so different year to year? I'm m guessing that the alt is moved due to the PS pump wanting to be near the steering column on L/RHD.

@ the thread starter, if ur totally serious, there is a specialist Jeep wrecker in Bowral, NSW, Australia. (there are other Jeep wreckers and an Oz Jeep forum)
He wrecks and sells on a local site called Gumtree..really knows his XJ stuff
I would just ring or email him, as he could supply all the parts you need
I have posted rare parts to people in other Countries, and imported many parts, (including Jeep via Rock Auto)
will try and post some pics later, including belt diagram

A belt diagram pertinent to my year models would be very helpful. Thank you!
