Reverse lights 1999 Jeep cherokee xj
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ reverse back up light's don't work. How can I fix them? Anyone?

Automatic transmission? Having any trouble wanting to turn over in neutral or park? Back up lights are usually the first sign of a NSS (neutral safety switch) issue. Try wiggling the shifter while someone watches for reverse lights.

Automatic and yes I just put a new safety switch in.
|
Then you know about the slight bit of adjustment you can do to it?
|
Yes I've tried it but maybe I'm doing something wrong.
|
Not really much you can do wrong. Loosen the 12mm bolt and carefully move the NSS a bit at a time (bolt hole is elongated) while someone is watching your backup lights. When (HOPEFULLY) they come on snug the bolt and make sure the vehicle starts only in park and neutral.

K thnx really appreciate it...

Vehicle can be off with key in ACC, correct?
|
Just tried it. With switch at ACC I couldn't come out of park. With the switch at ON and shifter in reverse I couldn't move the switch to ACC.
