Reuse head gasket?
So I've been "restoring" a 2000 with a 4.0 and of course it had a cracked head. Soooooo
New head and everything on the top end. Get it all together and running for roughly ten minutes, enough to get hot and fill the coolant. Only to discover that the bottom end is also trash. So I'm rebuilding the bottom end. My question is can I save the head gasket? The one I used was an MLS gasket so that being said maybe has 10 minutes of run time on it. Is it really worth the risk or should I just buck up and buy another new one? Thanks for the help |
Buy new deff. Once there torqued their done.

Yep. Not reusable. Don't even try. You'll regret it. Doesn't matter how nice it looks.

If you're going to spend the money on a rebuild, don't cheap out on something as important as the head gasket. Spending more up front will save you money in the long term.
