Default Reset Factory Anti-Theft '01

Okay guys so last night my 2001 jeep cherokee got broken into and they stole my radio faceplate. Now I have keyless entry and supposedly Anti-Theft. The keyless entry works fine however I did unplug the keyless entry wire up above in my instrument panel on the roof one time.

Would that reset my Anti-Theft? Or wipe it clean? Or how can I reset my Anti-Theft so my alarm will go off next time?

The doors lock and unlock from my key fob and the horn even sounds when I lock it. But the alarm never goes off on its own only when I press the panic button on the fob.

exactly; it's an engine immobilizer.

You have a grey key probably, not a black plastic one, and inside that is a little chip that tells the ECU that it is a real key, and allows the engine to start. If that chip is not present/not correct, the engine will not start. That's the limit of the "anti-theft" in our XJs.

Really?! So like the alarm won't go off if the doors are opened? Now I feel really vulnerable

This is the only key and fob the PO gave me.

With a black key, you do not have the engine immobilizer.
I would assume that most of the '01s came with it as Chrysler was clearing out the parts bins. hmm....unless it's bypassed.

Pick up an alarm off crutchfield. Prices have dropped big time. Some even work with factory keyless entry.

So there is no alarm on my jeep, or other jeeps?
So when I lock it and the horn beeps. Anyone can just pick my locks without it going off?

I guess when I said "Anti-Theft" maybe it sounded like I meant stealing the jeep (don't want that either lol) but no, I meant like there's no alarm if someone breaks in?

No. No alarm. Not until you put one in. just start taking your faceplate inside and don't leave anything in your Jeep.
