Replacing o2 sensor?

Decided that im gonna replacing both of my bad o2 sensors, are there any write ups for this? Ive looked around and apparently I cant find anything.

The more explanation the better!

well, plenty of info on that, how about this current thread?

Once you've made sure you have the correct parts, replacing Os sensors is pretty straight forward....however: getting the old ones out is easy for some and for others (like me) not so much...

Search and you will have plenty of ideas...

I highly recommend NTK sensors (OEM brand on your 2000)

Never, ever use generic or off brand "el-cheapo" oxygen sensors. These sensors are very important to proper engine management.

My parts store told me they are getting away from using Bosch sensors and have gone to NTK.

I just replaced all 4 on my '06 Grand with NTK. I've only had the Grand for about 6 weeks now.

I still get the check engine light, however. My mechanic is of the opinion that the PO let the O2 sensor replacement go too long and they got the converter.

UPDATE: I'm going next week to have the bank 1 converter replaced with a premium one designed for ethanol-containing fuels, to hopefully keep the light off.

In addition to what's in that thread above, avoid the generic sensors from the local parts store that require you to cut and splice wires. Get the OEM sensors with the stock connectors instead. Rock Auto has good prices on them.

Thanks Ill deff get started on reading that thread.
And I actually just got my o2 sensors in, Ever since I found
Out about RockAuto theyve been my go to for almost everything.
And the sensors that I got were the Bosch Premium O2 sensors,
Any experience with those?

See post #4.

Although I've got 2 Boschs in my '98 Expedition. I was told at the time they were equivalent to the OEM Ford ones. No problems with those yet.

OP has a 2000. Didn't they come with 4 sensors total?

peelman Sep 23, 2014 08:16 PM

My 2000 has the federal system with 2 O2's

Roler Sep 23, 2014 08:49 PM
