Default Replacing NP231 Transfer Case Chain

Hey all,

The chain in my transfer case seems to have stretched a bit, and is skipping. Is it possible to replace the chain just by disconnecting the rear driveshaft and removing the backplate, or is it necessary to drop the entire case?

Thanks

it would be A LOT easier if you drop the case but it can be done without taking the case out

There's no reason to drop the case at all for a simple chain swap. It can easily be opened up while the case is in the jeep.

Ok, thanks guys!

I'm willing to squeeze under there for a bit if I don't have to drop the TC - figure that there's less stuff to mess up that way.
