My husband just bought a 1997 Jeep Cherokee 4D SW (if that means anything LOL). It has real low rear seats. We have kids, one is four years old so I'm either going to have to find a carseat or booster that gives adequate head support or buy a replacement rear seat for this jeep that has higher seat backs.

I see that the Grand Cherokee around that vintage has nice tall rear seats and occasionally on Ebay I have seen ones with an integrated child safety seat.

Does anyone know if you can substitute Grand Cherokee seats in a regular Cherokee - whether they would even fit or if not what other make/model vehicle rear seat with taller backs could I put in there or if I'm just screwed let me know and I'll just go buy some car seats that will fit the bill.

1993 ZJ Grand cherokee rear seat will fit. you will have to do some trimming of the foam on the underside. have also seen where people have adapted the head rests from the ZJ and WJ, onto the XJ trear seat.
